Welcome to the YAHS Community

The "Yanco Family" represents everyone connected to Yanco Agricultural High School (YAHS) throughout its history. This includes the school's teaching, domestic, and farm staff; its students; the YAHS P&C Association; the Old Yanconians' Union Inc. (school alumni); the YAHS Old Yanconians' Foundation; as well as local businesses and corporate partners

YAHS's celebrated its centenary in 2022, when we reflect on Yanco Ag's journey since its official opening in March 1922 on Sir Samuel McCaughey's former North Yanco station. The establishment of this residential Agricultural High School was a milestone in the development of education and irrigation agriculture in New South Wales.

YAHS P&C Association is a vital part of the school community and the "Yanco Family." It collaborates with the school to address parents' concerns and organize annual fundraising events like the Beach Carnival, Gala Day, and the McCaughey Ball.

The Old Yanconians' Union (OYU), established in 1929 by alumni in Sydney, continues to represent all former students of the school. In the late 1930s, the OYU's main branch relocated to Leeton.  The organisation was incorporated in the early 1990s and now hosts annual reunion dinners, publishes the journal "The Yanco Echo," and maintains a presence on social media through Facebook, LinkedIn, and its website.

The YAHS Old Yanconians' Foundation (the Foundation) was created through the efforts of the OYU and is now registered with the ACNC, holding and ATO tax-deductibility (DGR) status. The Foundation supports the school's educational initiatives and enhances student learning experiences through scholarships, bursaries and prizes funded by philanthropic donations and fundraising efforts. It also publishes a quarterly newsletter, "Foundation News" and maintains a network on Facebook.

The OYU, the Yanconians' Foundation, the P&C, and the school are working together to strengthen our Yanconian Family, which will help us expand our resources for present and future students.

For over 100 years, Yanco Agricultural High School has been committed to providing both academic and practical public education in NSW. It remains a coeducational, fully boarding institution with a strong emphasis on agricultural studies. While many students come from NSW, some join from other states as well. Entrance to Year 7 is based on a Selective Schools examination, with later entries requiring a specific application and interview process.

Looking ahead, the school community aims to build even stronger alliances with a range of organizations, including corporate partners, local businesses, agricultural leaders, financial institutions, and groups supporting women and Indigenous Australians.
